I'm 20.
What a weekend. After classes on Friday, I ran back to the room in record time, threw some clothes that I thought might match in my duffle, and ran back downstairs to catch my ride back home, which thanks to Greg worked out perfect.
Coming home is a good feeling. Coming home and seeing your parents and two of your best friends is even better. Sista's rockin' out weekend had come to a start.
The ride to Colombus ended up being muuuch longer than mapquest predicted. I don't think they factor in the fact that any other car will be on the road, or that Indiana just sucks. Luckily, I have some sort of sleeping disorder, and coupled with caffiene I'm good for the long haul. The unfortunate part was that Leah and Becca didn't want me to drive...something about me always getting lost...
While we were in Indiana, we got stopped on the road by some serious traffic. We were in a parked position for about 45 minutes. BUt, it didn't even matter because we were having such a good time together...eating junk food, singing and dancing in the car, laughing, cheering on a guy that peed by the road, and making friends with a DJ who invited us to a show in Indianapolis. The rest of the drive went fairly smoothly, with a short stop at a meijers for a potty break, that turned more into a "oooo..let's try on hats and vests" break.
Finally, we reached Colombus around 5 am. Yikes. Poor Katie stayed up waiting for us. The plan was to stay up and chat, but by this point we were exhausted and fell asleep. THe next morning we went over to Starbuck's and saw Erin. Such a sweetie. Drank some heavily caffienated starbucks drinks to keep us going, had lunch with Katie's boyfriend, and headed out to Cleveland.
Chicago is way better than Cleveland. (examples: no grocery stores, sshhhaaaddeeeyy gas stations, confusing streets, and too many indians fans)
I really feel like God was looking out for us during the whole time, but especially in Cleveland. Even when we were dumb and made wrong choices, he prevented us from following through with them. And later on, I think we all knew it.
The concert was incredible fun. We got there an hour early, so we were fairly close to the front (it was standing room only), and by the time the concert started it had really filled in pretty full. The first band (Panic! At the Disco) was pretty good, although I didn't really get to enjoy them so much because as soon as it started Becca and I got ripped apart from Katie and Leah and pushed around. Eventually we were able to get together and hold on until we could find a better place to stand. The second band (Boys Night Out) I could have done without. Their music was alright, but not good, and their fans were crazy. Motion City Soundtrack put on a REALLY good show, and during Fall Out Boy set I had soooo much fun. I really thought I was going to like The Starting Line's show, because I really liked their music in high school..but their new stuff really isn't all that great. Then again, at that point I was dealing with just not getting knocked over. Also, that was about the time I got pelted right in the face with a cup of beer (all over..the hair and face).
The concert was about 4 hours all together, so by the time it was over we were EXHAUSTED, couldn't talk much, and THIRSTY. Becca, thank goodness for her, drove us back to colombus and pretty much as soon as we got back we fell asleep.
Sunday: Went to breakfast with Katie's padres. They are so awesome. Also, we got to see Erin again for a little bit. THe ride home was, again, long, but still fun, and nice to be with the girls chatting it up and listening to good music. I reeeaaallly appreciated my time with them and that they put the whole thing together. It was such a blast. I think we're going to try and keep the whole get together thing a tradition. I don't know where I'm going to end up when I'm older, but I definately know I want to be near them.
Greg and his dad kindly gave me a ride home and when I got back to school I came back to a ton of birthday messages and a FISH! Which I promptly named Mark Ruffalo, and whom I am planning on calling Ruflo the fish. He's a little guy, and I think Bunny intimidates him, but I'm starting him on a beefing up eating plan, so pretty soon, the two of them can stare at each other and get all fluffed up with out him feeling inadequate.
What a great weekend. Good friends, good times, good memories.
I rather like being 20.
